Ranma ep 1.10: "P-P-P-Chan! He's Good for Nothin'!"

Random notes:

• I cannot stand that title. Though I have to admit that Noriko Hidaka sounds really cute saying it in Japanese. Then again, it's not precisely the same title in Japanese - I just don't know what it translates to.
• First lines of the ep, according to the subtitles: "Ryouga. You're a..." "Ranma! Make sure you give the li'l piggy a good wash." Only context given: Naked Girl!Ranma, naked Ryouga. Uh...huh. I'm just SAYIN'. (In the dub? "Make sure you wash him everywhere!" No mention of "pig" is even made.)
• I love that this memory is still enough to massively traumatize Ryouga, even just in the recounting of it.
• The one thing that leaves me goin' "eh?" is how Ranma chases Genma around in a major pissed-off state, knocks Ryouga into a pool, and disappears. *Moments later* as Ryouga emerges, Genma has ditched Ranma, and is merrily skipping along to dinner. O_o
• Ranma is SO STUPID OMG. "You should be blamin' the panda and the girl!" And Ryouga's not that bright either. But Ranma is REALLY REALLY DUMB. :D
• Best animation so far: Ryouga's "that was a panda" double-take, ending in his narrowing his eyes at Ranma. HOT. If I can icon that I will.
• Megumi Hayashibara's "uh...uh-huh" noise is awesome.
• That scene is so. SO. SO WRONG. I am screencapping and iconning the wrongness as soon as is humanly possible. Even the piggy on her butt is WRONG.
• "You went and scratched my perfect complexion!" That line is utterly ridiculous. XD I think that's what they were going for.
• Pig!Ryouga's expression when he's staring at Akane as she's being nice to him is great. It's only on this viewing that I'm paying attention to anything before she kisses him and he goes all gooshy; he's really looking at her like "What... the hell is going on? A girl is being nice to me - something is really wrong here!" That noise is fantastic, too!
• Ranma gets soooooo pissed off! Megumi's voice cracks perfectly. He's not just pissed off, he's genuinely upset - probably because he's so pissed at Ryouga and she just kissed him. I mean, there's also the fact that she's going to take a creature that has the awareness and memories of a human teenage boy into her bed and cuddle it all night long... sure, there's that... but Ranma's taking it AWFULLY personally.
• What time was it when this chapter started? It's 3:30 am now. Well, I'm not going back to the last disc just to check...
• "That's a good boy" - I think that's pretty close to what he says, and it's perfectly insulting and diminutive. :D
• It's very hard to imagine P-Chan as Ryouga, I have to admit. He's just like, a little piggy that really hates Ranma and stuff, it's really hard to put him together with the hottie surly teenager that is Ryouga.
• I like the leaping around, which they manage to do without waking Akane at all. But does P-chan deliberately slam him into Akane, or was that a mistake? I would have assumed it was deliberate (he's tripped, why else slam into him from behind? It won't do any other good) but after he does it he kind of steps back like "eep" - maybe he figured Ranma would fall and wake her up but didn't know he'd be pressed across her helpless, curvy body that way. Ahahaha. ;D
• Ryouga's all like "Hm, how's this gonna play out."
• All the times when Ranma mentions Ryouga, and Akane says "Where do you see Ryouga?!" remind me of Seinfeld. Don't you see? He doesn't wear glasses, he's doing it to fool Lloyd Braun! Ehehehe.
• "You're so passe, Kasumi." Ha, good translation. "Say something, Ryouga!" doesn't make a lot of sense (even though I think it's in the manga and all) when Ranma's like "I promise I won't tell anyone" and when it looks like Akane's gonna figure it out he panics and shuts up, but then he's going to insistently call for Ryouga? Well - in this light it's like I said with the Seinfeld reference, maybe Akane and everyone can take it to mean that he's talking to an imaginary Ryouga. (LOL.) She doubtless thinks he can't possibly mean the piggy. But later, he actually does call P-chan Ryouga (and vice versa) - does he only do that because he thinks Akane's too dumb to figure it out? (Which, I must admit, she seems to be?)
• LOL at the blinking eyes. Ugh but he's too cute for words. I know he's enjoying being squealed over by girls. Though it seems sorta too early for that.
• Ranma showing up with the water in the shed is too close to a later plot moment. :P "Thanks to you they're callin' me a pervert" works fine (though I'm not sure he says that) to connect it to the first half but it still feels like a totally different episode.
• And Ryouga's in the girl's locker room. And again this is a plot device they've used before, and Ryouga looks far too comfortable ensconced in bras and cleavage. Although AHAHAHAHA "You got a problem with these?!" LOLOLOL, I love the fact that that has no connection to the pervert in those girls' minds XD It's a pretty funny line in the dub, too: "Get a load of these! Any questions?!" So picture this: you're changing for gym class. A guy busts in and you give him what for. As you're recovering from that a random girl you've never seen before bursts in and shows you her breasts, yells at you to look at them and ask any questions you may have. XD
• Isn't that Hiroshi that returns P-chan to Ranma? LOL, "Thank you". Well done.
• This half of the ep has so many gags that are funny, but make no sense. Like, the bit with Akane clobbering Ranma just before he fights Ryouga is cute but c'mon already. How could she have seen that and NOT seen Ryouga? There's just not time for that.
• What's up with this ugly rich couple? Guh. "We can't have children of our own, so heaven sent him to us". O_o
• WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY SERVE A PIG TO A PIG WTF. Again - funny take from Ryouga but it makes no sense at all. How stupid do they have to be?!
• Awwww, sad Akane! Comfort her Ranma. This is your chance.
• HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *dies* Ryouga being squeezed by ugly woman! Tongue hanging out! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
• I'd like to know who is playing the ugly man. He sounds a lot like Ken Ogata, actually. (Of course I think everyone sounds like Ken Ogata. Then again, 3 out of 4 times I'm right.)
• I am soooo uncomfortable with this bit with Ryouga being cuddled while naked with ugly man. Yet I cannot look away. :D
• "You pick on him so much, but you act as if you know him." That's a weird thing to say. Even if true.
• Okay - so - Why did Ryouga become a pig again? Because he didn't have any clothes so it was easier to escape that way? I mean he was human a moment ago, in the bath. Me not get it.
• Encouragement from Akane and he gets cocky again. Aw, teamwork is awesome! Buuuut still. Aww, "Akane - thank you!" was cute. And it leaves her all flustered so she's like "I was helping P-chan not you!" which is like - why? He was all grateful and going "wow we make a great team" and she's all "nuh-uh BITCH". Yeah, I've had too much caffeine or something. :P
• This ugly couple don't care that this unruly teenager totally kicked the ass of their servants? They don't want to, like, call the police or anything? - "I can't figure out why I worked so hard to rescue Ryouga" - 'cause you're a sucker for Akane, lalala. But ending with a rerun of the same scene .... meh. Even though she's awake this time. Heh heh. I just... dunno... stop it already. It's even the exact same time of the night. This is the worst filler in the first season, I think.
