Ranma ep 1.6: "Akane's Lost Love... These Things Happen, You Know!"

Random notes:

  • I just noticed that Ranma calls Kasumi "-san"!
  • Wow, Tofu's sense of humour is totally warped. Teasing Akane about hitting the ball - that's just weird!
  • "Aho". *giggles*
  • Aww! Akane leaves and Ranma follows. Cuuuute. ^_~
  • I love this resevoir. It shows up so often - must be a real place. HA! Akane's increasingly large rocks - she is stubborn as a mule to lift that huge one!
  • Hmm, "You DO like me, don't you!" This moment does seem to have cheered her right up, no matter what she says.
  • "Why would I ever like an uncute girl like you?" For once he actually pronounces it properly, "Kawaiikunai onna". Dunno if that's b/c it's early in the series (and thus a sort of flub) or what, though. Given that a second later Girl!Ranma says "Honto ni kawaiikunee onna!" I'll chalk it up to flub.
  • Much as Akane is clearly cheered up by Ranma tagging after her, she seems happier once he's a girl and seems to treat him more like a girlfriend than a love interest, especially in the "lend me some money, I'm starving!" moments. She's definitely more into Ranma for friendship at this point.
  • The bag of burgers is a variety pack, apparently - one is labelled "hamburger", one is a "cheaseburger" and there are definitely a few Big Mac containers in there. Apparently they sell Big Macs at "W" in Japan. ;P
  • Aaaand now I want hamburgers.
  • All the little details in this part, like the rocks and the shots and the shots to the garbage can, are really nice (and all additions from the manga). I love Akane's look when she dunks the wrapper, too.
  • "So I'm not all dainty like Kasumi!" "That's not what I said." Heh, well, Ranma's not the one into Kasumi, silly. ;)
  • "You've got to get over it, Akane!" Go Ranma!
  • I love the structure of this argument in Japanese. "Aa so desu ka?!" "Aa so desu yo!" They just argue so WELL.
  • Akane is truly a difficult person. Ranma follows her and is nothing but supportive, and she tells him to get lost. He finally tells her to get over it and stop moping over some guy, and she asks why he's "being so mean". ARGH! Women.
  • A compliment from Ranma is a rare, rare thing. No wonder it floored Akane. *g*
  • Her little giggle when she's smiling in the mirror is the most adorable thing ever! And he is just. Such. An. Ass. *sigh*
