Why you should read/watch it: For Lum and Ataru, if nothing else! The series is not character-centric, but regardless it relies heavily on having interesting, well-defined characters to drive the situations they're in. Lum and Ataru add an emotional center to the story that resurfaces every so on and is actually quite compelling. Even when it's just pure comedy, the character types are so ludicrous that it's always entertaining. Plus, it's interesting to see the way the characters progress - the series has no real "development", precisely, but they do change. Also, Lum's innocent sexuality is really appealing, as is her single-minded devotion to/possessiveness of Ataru. She's mah hero. *G* The acting from both of these leads in the anime is wonderful, too - but avoid the dubs at all costs. They have yet to find anyone who can pull them off. :P
