Been There, Done That: 50 Miles On Broken Glass
Rated PG. This is a continuation of a scene in the third-season episode "Been There, Done That". When Xena tells Gabrielle about how Joxer feels for her, it leads to a confrontation. The first scene is verbatim from the episode, but the rest is pure Xebbieness (yeah, there's something to brag about;).
I'll Think Of A Reason Later
Rated G. Circa end of season four; after not hearing from Joxer for a while, Xena and Karma-Girl Gab get the news that their friend is getting married. The news gets an unexpected reaction from Gabrielle. Written for a lyric challenge, so the story is based on the lyrics to Lee Ann Womack's song of the same name.
Welcome To Who You Used To Be
Rated PG. After the show's 4th season ender, "Deja Vu All Over Again", Annie, the reincarnated version of Joxer, left her friends to be "soulmates" with each other without her. But is she really destined to always be on the outside? Or is there more to this reincarnation and soulmate business than Annie, or any of her friends, realize?
One Year of Love
Rated PG-13. Circa early season five; Gabrielle and Xena die- yes, again- but Joxer isn't about to let Gabby go again without saying goodbye. He's given a year in which he is to do so, and during that time, his relationship with Gabrielle changes markedly. Big-time hankie story, I'll give you fair warning. Written for a lyric challenge and based on the lyrics to Queen's song of the same name. Winner of the 2000 Golden Quill Award for Best Dramatic Story.
Some Fantastic
Rated G. Circa late season five; don't let the title fool you, this isn't a fantastic story. It was just written for the Lyric Challenge and my song was the Barenaked Ladies song by the same title. Joxer, Xena, and Gabrielle all have their own little thoughts during a quiet day. Nothing new, nothing great.
The Parting Glass
Rated PG. Circa end of season five; after the Twilight of the Gods, Ares and Aphrodite are left to mourn their dead family. Ares says goodbye in his own way. Written for a lyrics challenge, based on an Irish folk song. Interesting, since I swore that I'd never write any fanfics taking place after the 25-Year-Blunder...
This Mess I Have Made
Rated PG. Circa mid-season three; what if, after the death of her son, Xena had handled her situation with Gabrielle differently? This is an alt-fic, in other words, Xena and Gabrielle express romantic feelings for each other in the course of it. Based on the lyrics to "Mess" by Ben Folds Five. Nominated for the 2001 GQA for Best Joxer-Friendly Subtext story.
Missed Chances
Rated PG. Another alt fic. Love may be the most powerful force on the planet, but it can be crushing when it's unreturned. Also nominated for the 2001 GQA for best Joxer-Friendly Subtext, probably because I was pretty much the only one writin' Joxer-friendly subtext. ;)
Strange Thing
Rated PG. Uber-story, in other words it deals with reincarnations of the characters (mostly). Somedays, you just don't feel like yourself. Written for a lyric challenge, based on the lyrics to the song of the same name by Sophie B. Hawkins. Winner of the 2001 Golden Quill Award for Best Uber Story.
The Things We Do For Love
Rated PG. Circa early season three; hoping to change himself enough to gain Gabrielle's love, Joxer approaches Aphrodite with a request. But is even this enough to win the bard over? The second fic I ever began writing for "Xena", and I then proceeded to let it sit and gather dust until just recently. A bit of retooling, and I'm off! *G* Nominated for the 2001 Golden Quill Award for best Dramatic story, and Best Novella.
Never
Rated PG. Circa season five, mostly; Gabrielle's behaviour towards Joxer isn't exactly indicative of her feelings for him, but she has her own reasons. Part tiny-vignette, part Greek Tragedy.
The Art (Yo! New story!)
Rated PG-13. Too much to drink clouds the judgment of two friends, and they make a little mistake. The mistake is nothing compared to dealing with the next morning.
