Site Mission:
To be an entertaining and not-entirely-generic "Xena" fan page. Much of the content is generic in type (ie fanfics, episode guide) but I kind of like to think I have a somewhat unique view on things, so maybe they'll be entertaining for that; the Subtext and TLFENH sections are my attempt to be "different" since they're both things I haven't seen on other sites, go me. ;P More than anything I feel the most important thing is to put up things that would entertain me, myself, so most content is what I find interesting.

Site History:
I've had a Xena site - in theory - since about July '98, when I first created the very beginnings of a generic fan page. You know the kind: character profiles, fave pictures, list of fave episodes. Blah blah blah. I realized early on how boring it was and was unable to think of a way to update it until early 2000, around February or March, when I had a sudden brain flash and came up with the underdeveloped early version of the "New Subtext", which at the time was current. That kind of had the wind taken out of its sails by the ending to season five, which ate my lunch more than a little. ;) In October 2000, I took the page down except for the New Subtext section, with the intention of redesigning and rebuilding it. More than a year passed before I did, during which time I deleted the entire thing and started mainly from scratch. The current incarnation of the page, now genuinely able to be called a SITE, was begun in August of '01 and then revised and uploaded in December of the same year. I've been tweaking it since then. It was designed primarily using Adobe Photoshop 6.0, with ImageReady 3.0 helping me to speed along the tables and whatnot (when I'm using my other computer it takes about three times as long;). The site is designed for an 800x600 res. screen but hopefully looks okay on a smaller res. - I haven't been able to test it 9_9 And it was Made on a Mac so again, any discrepancies with PCs are hopefully minor.

  • The Joxerites Fanfic Guild, designed and archived by me; hosting close to 400 fanfics by various authors from 1998-present. Link.
  • The Zebeckras Zone, my personal home page w/ fics and art etc, and a jump-off point for my other fansites. Has had the same design since 1996 but I'm working on that. *G* Link.
  • The Darkwing Duck Screengrab Gallery, a rather ambitious attempt to get screengrabs from every DWD episode ever. So far has grabs from four. *lol* Link.
  • El Hazard: The Magnificent Worlds, an even more ambitious attempt at The Biggest El Hazard Fan Site Ever. Was well on its way to getting there and then Crosswinds got glitchy on me and ate it. *sigh* Link is pending when I get it back up.
  • Excalibur: Because You Demanded It, an entirely neglected fansite to the now-cancelled Marvel Comic. To be redesigned ASAP. Link.
  • Brilliant & Ruthless, a site co-developed and run with Kawcrow, with a Buffy focus and a little X-Files and other oddities around the edges. Still being designed.

    Sites I Owe Big:
    For most of the graphics on this site, I pulled images from one of the following places: Tom's Xena Page, MaryD's Aussie Xena Page, and JoxVox: Joxer Fansite Listing or Tribute to a Fallen Hero. Between the four of these places I think you can find almost all the images y'need, particularly Joxer-oriented ones at the final two.

    Site Explanation:
    There are certain things on this page which some people may take objection to. Being as I am an opinionated cuss, I shan't apologize for them (at least, the ones listed here), though I also won't nail anyone to the wall for not agreeing with me. (I have my nice side.;)
    1. I'm big into Joxer. I like most of the characters of the series, but Joxer is My Boy. Lots of unapologetic Joxer-lovin'.
    2. I'm kinda semi subtext-friendly. Probably not enough to please anyone who really follows it, but possibly enough to put off people who aren't into it. Small beer.
    3. Some of the places I culled screengrabs from for my graphics have little disclaimers along the lines of "don't use any of these pics anywhere else, we did them ourselves and put many hours into them, they're ours." Okay - here's the deal with that. When it's a matter of graphic manipulation or digital art, I'm all about that. I would *never* just take a collage, or an altered pic, for my own and put it up, with or without a credit. But when it comes to screengrabs, I'm sorry, but they're things that anyone with a good-quality tape and a Snappy can get for themselves. If I had good-quality tapes of Xena, I'd get my own, but at the moment I don't so I'm relying on the web to provide me with them; and quite honestly, I fail to understand why you'd put them UP on the web if you don't want anyone to do anything with them except look. I'll always give credit to where I got pics, I'll link to you, I'll thank you relentlessly, and I won't take all the pics you put up (in fact I'll only take the minimum I need for whatever I'm doing). But I don't go for "ownership" on simple screengrabs of a TV show.
    4. The Rants page is called a Rants page because I'm ranty. Oh, and an opinionated cuss. However, the things that I say there shouldn't be used to draw the worst possible conclusion about me - IE, "I didn't like the subtext in seasons 4 through 6" should not be taken as a synonym for "I hate gay people, they stink the place up" or anything like that. Gawd, that's tiresome. :P
    5. If there's anything on this page that you really don't like, I'd really prefer you not flame me for it, because it's not going to change my mind or get me to think "gee, what WAS I thinking" or anything like that. Really, it'll just piss me off - the page won't go anywhere, so it'll accomplish nothing at all except to get me thinking you're a neanderthallic whiner. On the other hand, I'm quite pleased to get notes along the lines of "huh, I never thought of [subject] like that, here's how I see it" and whatnot. You see the difference, I hope.
    6. This site is here because it's about stuff I like. If I don't like it, it's not here. I won't start up a "hate site" for any particular aspect of the show, any sites out on the 'Net, or anything else. However, I'm also not going to add info about a part of the show I didn't care for, or add links to any sites that don't really catch my fancy. And that's all for my cranky rant of the day. ^_^
