Joxer's dead... it's a little hard to have subtext now, isn't it?

Actually, call it denial (and in a way it is, since I generally refuse to acknowledge the final four episodes of the fifth season, or the entire sixth season), but I don't think that a subtext between them is destroyed with his death. In fact, I've always been of the opinion that, after Joxer's death, Gab really realized how much he meant to her. Not that they ever said outright what that was, but hey. *g*

In the original script for Motherhood, when Joxer's ghost appears and Gabby first sees him, she was originally written to have run up to him and hugged and kissed the heck out of him - instead of the awkward stiffness that we saw. Her problems with forgiving Eve for killing Joxer also spoke volumes. So I think the subtext sort of "lives on", in a sense, although Gab had to put it out of her mind in season six (hence the total lack of mention of Joxer for most of it).
